The first Civility Counts Luncheon and Award Ceremony, organized by Mieshel Image Consulting, raised the profile of May as Civility Awareness Month at the Walnut Hills Country Club. Committed to launching a positive epidemic of civility, a presentation from Anne M. Vrooman focused on the positive benefits of following the protocols of courtesy and politeness.

Additionally, the event honored Jane Aldrich with the Civility Star Award and a special tribute from State Rep. Barb Byrum. The Award is given in recognition of outstanding commitment to the principles of civility in the Greater Lansing community. Aldrich is a television newscaster at WLNS TV 6 and cofounder of Joyworks!, an organization through which she and her husband offer transformational consulting to inspire people to learn about the power of positive attitudes and their emotions.
